Auf der 4S-Konferenz der Society for Social Studies of Science in New Orleans hält Andrea zur Nieden einen Vortrag mit dem Titel “Race as a Technology in Medicine and Epidemiology: Contrasting Germany and the US”:

The proposed paper intends to discuss how thinking race as a technology helps understanding the usage of visible and invisible racial and ethnic categories in medical and epidemiological research. Auch Tino Plümecke ist auf der 4S-Konferenz und hält folgenden Vortrag: „Critical Life Science Research on Human Diversity: Social Reflexivity as a Means for ‘Good Science’”:

My contribution focuses on the question of forms of reflexivity in life science research dealing with categories of race/ethnicity and sex/gender. In particular, I focus on projects that distance themselves from the common paradigms in the respective fields of research and use innovative non-binary and more fluid or context-specific categorizations of human biological diversity.
